THE RADIO
The radio plays lo-fi chillout beats to relax and study to, 24/7. It is one station for everyone: start it on two phones and they play the same second of the same song. Every track is picked by hand, from small lo-fi artists who agreed to be on it, and the station keeps growing with the people who listen to it. The welcome line tells you how many people are listening with you right now.
The radio is free for 5:00 a day, 3:00 on a TV. With a subscription it plays all day at full 320 kbps quality. The room around it is free forever.
THE ROOM
I wanted one thing on my phone that asks nothing of me. So I made a room: snow outside, a fire that crackles, a cat asleep on someone's lap. You open it and leave it running.
The scene is a video loop decoded by your phone's hardware, so it stays cool for hours. On a 4K TV it plays in 4K.
TAP THINGS
There are no buttons on the screen, but you can tap the room:
- Tap the cat and she purrs.
- Tap the fireplace and the fire gets louder.
- Tap the window for snow.
- Tap the chest at the foot of the bed to turn the radio on.
YOUR OWN MIX
Under everything there is a recording of a real fire. Rain, wind, crickets and vinyl crackle each have their own fader. The sleep timer fades out over a full minute. With the screen off it keeps playing, like a music app.
The radio has its own fader, so you can put it under the fire or on top of it.
FREE ROOM, PAID RADIO
The room is free: the fire, the cat, the snow, the sleep timer, everything, forever. No account, no ads.
The radio costs me money to run, so that is the one thing I charge for. You get 5:00 a day free (3:00 on a TV). For unlimited radio there is a cheap subscription or a one-time purchase. Tips are welcome and unlock nothing.
The app does not track you. Analytics are off until you turn them on, and you never have to. The privacy policy is short and in plain words.
